Former County Judge, State Rep., Travis Boyd Dead at Age 70

Former Clay County Judge, and State Representative, Travis Boyd, 70, of Piggott, died Tuesday afternoon at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Boyd was a native of Knobel, and served as county judge in the early 1990's. He also went on to later serve two terms as the State Representative from the region.

In 2008 he was named coordinator for the Clay County Office of Emergency Management. He retired from the position in March, citing health concerns.

During his tenure he was responsible for garnering thousands of dollars for Clay County in grant monies and equipment.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 13, at New Hope Baptist Church at Pollard, with burial to follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, and will continue until the time of the services at the church.
