Full Schedule for Saturday in Piggott

Saturday, September 13, 2014
Friday was Youth Day at the Clay County Fair, sponsored by Piggott State Bank. Kids from all three of the county school districts took part in a variety of offerings, including the FFA animal demonstrations.

Today, Saturday, Sept. 13, is a busy day for Piggott with two major events drawing large crowds. Today is the final day of the annual Clay County Fair, with the parade set to begin at 10 a.m. and activities which will run through late tonight. The carnival is scheduled to open at 1 p.m. and armbands are available for $20 for unlimited rides all day and evening. Pageants will also be going on, along with the antique tractor and canine shows. And, this evening there will be demolition derby action at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Native American Day at the Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum is going on from noon to 3 p.m. This is the 11th annual event, and will feature Native American dancers, activities and flint-knapping demonstrations. There will also be a Native American flute performance. There is no charge for admission, although regular house tours are not being held.

And, the best part of it all is the weather forecast--which calls for partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 70's.
