Mildred Kathleen Foster

Mildred Kathleen (Hunter) Foster departed this life and began her new one with the Lord on September 10, 2014. After a courageous battle with ALS, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family at the Hospice of El Paso, Center for Compassionate Care, in El Paso, Tex.

Mildred was born on May 27, 1931, and raised in the Carryville community near Piggott. Her parents were Jesse and Nellie (Nading) Hunter.

She graduated from Piggott High School in the class of 1950 and may be remembered as Homecoming Queen and Miss PHS of that school year.

Mildred and James E. Foster were married on June 30, 1950. They lived in Piggott before beginning a military career and eventually making their permanent home in El Paso, Tex.

Mildred was an active member of the Southern Baptist Church, loved being with friends and family, camping and RV-ing, and was known for her beautiful voice. She loved to sing and play the piano.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, James Foster; her daughters, Jamie Engelhardt of El Paso and Tarra Barnes, of Biloxi, Miss.; grandchildren, Angela Parsons and Garrett Barnes; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Borgo and Frank James Parsons; her brothers, Jesse and Sig Hunter and her sisters-in-law Joyce Hunter, Pat Hunter and Loretta Foster.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Glinn Hunter; two sisters, Veneal Ellis and Mary Langston and parents-in-law, Loyd and Corene Foster.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at the Fort Bliss National VA Cemetery.
