Friday Night Sports Update

Cade Harrell spins out of the tackler's arms on his way to a touchdown in last week's win over Corning. Harrell had 113 on 27 carries in the junior Mohawk win Thursday night at Osceola.

The Rector Cougars will be hosting Walnut Ridge tonight, Friday, Sept. 26, with kickoff at 7 p.m. Last week the squad was idle, as they look to notch their first win of the year. Last week the Bobcats fell to 4A Harrisburg by a final of 34-20.

The Mohawks were also idle in week three, coming off their 30-21 home victory over Portageville in week two. They'll host the Osceola Seminole, who are currently 0-3 after falling to Blytheville, Gosnell and Hazen in their non-conference schedule. Kickoff at Parker Field is 7 p.m.

Thursday evening the Junior Mohawks took another step toward a conference championship, traveling to Osceola and taking a 14-12 win over the Seminole. Meanwhile, the Junior Cougars fell in their contest with EPC by a final of 30-0.

Tuesday night the Lady Mohawk volleyball team beat Walnut Ridge in an important conference set at PHS, and then followed that up with a four game conference win over CRA at Paragould on Thursday. The junior girls split on the two nights, losing to the Lady Bobcats and beating the Lady Falcons.

As for the Mohawk tennis teams, they now stand at 13-1 for the boys and 11-5 for the girls, as they wind down their campaigns. And, the Mohawk golf teams were in district play in the past week, and we'll have all the details in the upcoming edition of the CCTD and here on
