Jerry Holifield, 74, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at his home.
He was born on October 17, 1939, in Piggott, Ark., and was the son of the late Elmer Phillip and Freda (Johnson) Holifield.
His brother, Larry Holifield also preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage to Glenda Orr on Oct. 4, 1957, and to this union three children were born.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Holifield of Piggott, Ark.; two daughters, Tammy Gibson and husband Dale of Piggott, Ark. and Demetra Holifield of Piggott, Ark.; son, Phillip Holifield and wife Trish of Piggott, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Fallon Gibson, Sheena Swindle and husband Jason, Steven Gibson and wife Tina, Lisuke Holifield, Aimi Holifield, Lura Brown and Jenna Brown; five great-grandchildren, Abbagail Gibson, Dallen Gibson, Christian Swindle, Arwyn and Aryaa; two sister-in-law, Carol Holifield and Sharon Mills of Piggott, Ark.; three aunts, several nieces and nephews, a special walking buddy, his dog Levi, and many other relatives and friends.
He lived a simple life and asked for his service to be the family.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Ark., with Gary Laughlin officiating. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements.
