Frances Roofe

Frances Rosalie Roofe, 84, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Friday, October 3, 2014, at the St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

She was born on August 1, 1930, in Greenway, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Francis Lee Roy and Catherine Virginia (Shelby) Causey.

She was united in marriage to Wilton A. Roofe on Dec. 10, 1945, and to this union three children were born. She was a dutiful military wife during his 28-year Army career. Her husband, Wilton, preceded her in death on September 14, 1979.

She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Margaret Whitehorn and Jan Rose Holcomb and a great-grandson, Bentley.

Survivors include her children, Tracy Lee Roofe of Minnesota, Cathy (Roofe) Harmon and husband James of North Little Rock, Ark. and Colonel Scott B. Roofe, M.D. of Hawaii; four grandchildren, Alan, Samantha, Anna and Shelby; four great-grandchildren, Blaine, Gage, Livee and Zoe; three sisters, Glenda James, Maxine Young and Sharon Wicker all of Piggott, Ark. and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Ark. Pallbearers were Alan Roofe, Shane Holcomb, Brian James, Howard Young, Rob Rice, Rob Chandler, Dewey Holcomb and Spencer Permenter.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home.
