Annual 5Klay Run for Fun Held
Participation was light for the annual 5Klay Run for Fun, held Saturday, Oct. 4, as a fundraiser for the Clay County Fair Association. But, a handful of hearty runners did brave the cool conditions to compete. And, at the conclusion of the five kilometers a young Piggott runner had edged out a local lawmaker for first place overall.
Competitors in several age divisions for both men and women took part in this year's event, with the start and finish at the gates of the Clay County Fairgrounds in Piggott.
According to Agee Scoring and Timing, first place went to Dillon Horn, a member of the Piggott Mohawk Junior track team, at a time of 19:13.653. Second went to (State Senator) Robert Thompson, of Paragould, who was only about 18 seconds behind Horn with a time of 19:31.733.
