Ray Gene Hancock
Ray Gene Hancock passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in the comfort of his youngest daughter's home in Toledo from what is commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Ray was born February 18, 1932, in Thorn Grove, Ark., to the late Charlie Harrison and Ethel Pearl Hancock. He grew up In Knobel, Ark.
Ray was married to Merlene Cate on Nov. 27, 1954.
He was a member of the Albany Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising a garden.
Ray is survived by wife Merlene Hancock; his children, Steven Hancock, Kimberly Waggoner and Angela Templeton; his grandchildren, Tim, Barbara, Tera, Hunter, Kayla and Trent and his great-grandchildren Madelyn, Weston, Addison, Aubrey, and expecting Nolan. Ray has two remaining sisters, Ella Bell of Heber Springs, Ark., and Lucille Thomas and husband Earl of Hot Springs, Ark., of siblings that originally numbered nine.
A celebration-of-life service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Albany Missionary Baptist Church, 710 Walnut Street, S.W., Albany Oreg., 97321.
The family notes donations to the church building fund in lieu of flowers are welcome.
