Edith Moffitt, 92, of Boonville, Mo., formerly of Fagus, Mo., passed away October 9, 2014, at the Ashley Manor in Boonville.
She was born on December 22, 1921, of Wooster, Ark., and was the daughter of the late J.C. and Cora (Sellers) King.
She was united in marriage to Doyle Moffitt on Sept. 3, 1940, and to this union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Cora King; her husband, Doyle Moffitt; three brothers, Bill King, Marvin King and Bobby King; and four sisters, Lavora Comer, Irene Pattillo, Eva Lee Matchett and Lois Bond.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Johnson and husband Jack of Boonville, Mo.; two sons, Edward Leon of Edwardsville, Ill. and James Leroy and wife Patricia Moffitt of St. Peters, Mo.; a sister, Janette Bradley and husband Bob of Williamsburg, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Hancock officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Ark. Pallbearers were Britton Johnson, Barry Barnett, Barry Moffitt, Chad Moffitt, Donnie Moffitt and Kirk Dobson. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Johnson and Jamie Pounds. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
