Alma Ruth Brady
Alma Ruth Brady was born September 17, 1921, to James William and Alma (Baker) Nettles at Pollard, Ark. She departed this life to meet her Lord and Savior, October 22, 2014 at Piggott Community Hospital, Piggott, Ark., at the age of 93 years 1 month and 5 days.
On July 22, 1939, she was married to William Roy Brady, Sr.--Brother Brady, as he was known to many. Together, they served the Lord diligently through many years in local church and association work until he preceded her in death on August 5, 2003. They were married for over 60 years, nurturing and guiding their two children William Roy Brady, Jr. and Mary Lou Richardson.
Her expectation for excellence was legendary in the classroom, where 35 years of students passed under her care at the Piggott School District before her retirement in 1980. Even afterwards, she participated in the Clay County Retired Teachers and Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.
She was a ready servant and a model for young women as she served her Lord faithfully in many areas of His work, most recently as a member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Rarely was she seen without a Bible beside her chair at home and was renowned for her fellowship cooking.
She treasured her family and is survived by her son, William Roy (Dorothy) Brady, Jr.; Dry Prong, La.; daughter, Mary Lou (Virgil) Richardson, Corning, Ark. Grandchildren are William Roy (Becky) Brady, III, Pineville, La.; Beth (Paul) Pittman, Carrollton, Tex.; Sarah Richardson, Alexander, Ark.; Dianna Richardson, Corning, Ark.; and Laura (Bobby) Shipman, Jonesboro, Ark. Great- grandchildren Rhonda (Josh) McKinley, Paragould, Ark.; Jacob Simpson, Corning, Ark.; Samantha (Derek) Baum and Courtney (James) Garland of Pineville, La.; Bobby Lee, Anna and William Brady Shipman, Jonesboro, Ark.; Ben and Rachel Pittman of Carrollton, Tex. There are also four great-great grandsons, Caleb, Aaron, and Malachi McKinley and Brady Baum. Besides these she also leaves many relatives and friends.
