Lady Mohawks In Final Four at State Tournament

The Piggott Lady Mohawk volleyball team as they boarded the bus for the trip to Harrison Monday afternoon. Wednesday afternoon the Tribe beat the Episcopal Wildcats, and have advanced to the 3A final four.

The Piggott Lady Mohawks took their second round match with the Episcopal Wildcats in straight sets Wednesday afternoon, and now advance to the final four of the 3A volleyball tournament at Harrison.

The Tribe rolled over the Lady Wildcats, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23 to advance. The Mohawks were 65/66 serving with 9 aces. MaKalia Beck had 6 blocks, 4 aces and 2 kills. McKenzie Hopkins had 6 hits and 2 blocks. Meanwhile, Bailey Pollard, Abby Holcomb and Shelby Chavez recorded 6 digs each.

The Mohawks will now face Mansfield, as the Lady Tigers eliminated Conway Christian in straight sets as well.

Action in the lower half of the bracket was set for Wednesday evening, with Paris and Jessiville in one of the quarterfinals while Walnut Ridge was to take on Green Forest in the other. The winners will make up the other semi, set for 6 p.m. Thursday.

With a win over Mansfield in the semi's the Lady Mohawks will advance to the championship set, scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 in the Hot Springs Convention Center.
