Eugene Grissom, 84, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
He was born on November 1, 1929, in Holcomb, Mo.
On March 17, 1984, he was united in marriage to Gladys Smith.
Eugene served 22 years in the United States Navy as Boat mains Mate Second Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, J.T., Denver, and Delmer Grissom and a sister, Lawanda Comer.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Grissom of Piggott; siblings, Barbara Drury and husband Steve of Fenton, Mo., Bill Grissom and wife Pauline of Rector, Ark., Ron Grissom and wife Judy of Washington, Kenneth Grissom of Nevada and Bertha Houston of Chesterfield, Mo.; his children, Mary Morrow and husband Dewayne of Wichita Falls, Tex., Fern Smith of Holcomb, Mo., Shirley Bradshaw and husband Stephen of Holcomb, Mo., Glenda Brooks and Larry Hart of Maryland, Jim Smith and wife Tammy of Paragould, Ark., Charles Smith and wife Melinda of Kennett, Mo. and Scott Smith and wife Jennifer of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kim Hellebusch officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stephen Bradshaw, Danny Bradshaw, Chase Smith, Scotty Smith, Bill Galyean, Jeremy Smith and Cody Howe. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, and continued until the time of the service at the funeral home.
