Erma "Eloice" Grider

Erma "Eloice" (Gribble) Grider, 97, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark.

She was born on September 24, 1917, in Crockett, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Bill and Myrtle (Carpenter) Gribble.

She was united in marriage to Lester Olen Grider on Jan. 29, 1938. He preceded her in death on Sept.r 23, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lorene Alexander and two brothers, Dwight Gribble and Dennis Gribble.

She is survived by her brother, Cletus (Vickie) Gribble of Godfrey, Ill.; two sons, Jerry (Carol) Grider of Piggott, Ark., and Larry Grider of Florissant, Mo.; a daughter, Erma (Ronnie) Neeley of Piggott; six grandchildren, Gary Grider of Columbia, Tenn., Keith Grider of Louisville, Ky., Dean Grider of Liberty, Mo., Cindy Winfrey of St. Louis, Mo., Timothy Neeley of Jonesboro, and Eric Neeley of Piggott; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Eloice was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard, Ark. She loved God, her family, and the joys of life. Her favorite pastimes were fishing, Rook, and Dominoes. She was young at heart, always full of laughter and fun. Everyone who knew her will always remember her sweet spirit and laughter.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bro. Loy Culver officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery. Her Grandchildren served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were John Dover, Terry McLeskey and Leon Gates. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held beginning at noon, prior to services at the funeral home.
