Three new members were elected to the Rector City Council during Tuesday's General Election, as Alderman David Romine was re-elected without opposition to East Ward, Position Two. Also unopposed for East Ward, Position One, was candidate Lark Sigsby.

Meanwhile, for West Ward, Position One, Ryan S. Lawrence defeated Mike A. Scott by a tally of 238 to 187. And, in the race for West Ward, Position Two, it was Iva Fahr getting the nod over Marvin Gatewood 285 to 146.

The city will also have a new mayor, as former council member Teresa L. Roofe did not face opposition in her campaign to replace David Freeman, who chose not to run for re-election.

The only other local municipal race which was contested was for mayor of St. Francis, with Teressa D. Johnson out-polling Keith Dalton by one vote, 23 to 22.

Meanwhile, the four-way-man race for mayor of Corning will be decided in a runoff as no one received a majority. Leading the way was Rob Young with 296 while former mayor J.H. Ermert received 285 locking those two in the runoff race. Meanwhile, the incumbent, Dewayne Phelan polled 240 while Raymond Pettus, II, received 24 and those two were eliminated from contention.
