The teams battled in a back-and-forth contest for three frames before Corning was able to pull away in the fourth quarter. "We struggled with our shots at different times tonight, but more so in the fourth quarter," Rector coach Matt Mills said following the game. "I thought we forced some bad shots in some of those stretches, but we weren't hitting much before then, either.

Mason McCluskey rebounded his own miss and scored on the putback underneath at the 5:12 mark for Rector, bringing the hosts back within two, 57-55. Corning would rattle off nine unanswered over the next three minutes to take control. The visitors went to the stripe three times in the final minute, each time making one of two, but Rector could not capitalize with a big shot when needed.
