RHS Hall of Fame Classic Bracket Update
A weekend featuring local basketball teams is quickly approaching as the 2014 Rector High School Sports Hall of Fame Classic will begin Thursday, Dec. 4 and continue on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6. The annual event is an ideal opportunity for area fans to come out and support their favorite teams while scouting other squads from the region.
The event will feature a special ceremony in which plaques celebrating the accomplishments of 2014 Hall of Fame inductees Paul Temerian, Rudy Pruett, Don Sinko and Les McKeel.
The Classic also benefits the athletes of today, with funds raised during the event supporting the Hall of Fame's continuing efforts to aid Rector athletes through scholarships and the purchase of new equipment and materials.
The three-day event will give local basketball fans the opportunity to see several area and regional teams in action without having to travel across the state.
Senath's senior girls were forced to drop from play due to tournament obligations, but the Hoxie Lady Mustangs uunder new coach Mike Chipman have been added to their slot against the Lady Cougars on Saturday. Also, Rector and Piggott will have their seventh grade boys' teams in action Saturday. Both changes have been added to the updated schedule below.
The list of contests slated for Thursday, Dec. 4 is: Rector Junior Lady Cougars vs. Maynard at 4 p.m.; Rector Junior Cougars vs. Maynard at 5:15 p.m.; Rector Lady Cougars vs. Maynard at 6:30 p.m. and Rector Cougars vs. Maynard at 8 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 5 games are as follows: Rector Lady Cougars vs. Dyer County (Tenn.) at 5 p.m.; East Poinsett County Warriors vs. Trumann Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. and Rector Cougars vs. Manila at 8 p.m.
Games slated for Saturday, Dec. 6 are: Rector Seventh Grade Cougars vs. Piggott Seventh Grade Mohawks at 1 p.m.; Rector Junior Cougars vs. Piggott Junior Mohawks at 2 p.m.; Rector Lady Cougars vs. Hoxie at 3:15 p.m.; Hall of Fame ceremony honoring the 2014 inductees at 4:45 p.m. and Rector Cougars vs. Doniphan at 5:30 p.m.
