Rector firefighters prepare to enter the burning structure

Firefighters were called to a residence north of Boydsville just after 4 p.m. Thursday after witnesses reported a fire at the home of Nathan and Stacy Shelton. Crews arrived at the scene shortly to find heavy smoke rolling from the home and the emergence of flames in some areas.

Neighbors indicated the residents were not home at the time. Volunteers arriving early at the scene pulled some of the family's vehicles away from the structure to reduce the risk of spreading and damage.

A more detailed report will be featured in the Dec. 17 edition of the Times-Democrat.
