Action from the Tribe's sweep of Hoxie, prior to the Christmas break.

The Piggott Mohawk boys and girls teams have been idle during the holiday break, and will return to action with the arrival of the new year. As a matter of fact, the boys squad is slated to start off the new year this Friday, Jan. 2, as they host Hillcrest in non-conference play at Piggott High School.

Despite a tough first half of the season, the Mohawks rolled into the holiday break on a high note--sweeping the Hoxie Mustangs at the PHS gym.

Checking the Tribe's schedule for the coming week--they'll also be facing a non-conference foe the following Monday, Jan. 5, as the Mohawks are slated to visit Ridgefield Christian for a set with the Warriors. The next day, Tuesday, Jan. 6, the non-conference schedule continues as the Tribe will host the Maynard Tigers at PHS. The boys will get back into the conference schedule next Friday, Jan. 9, as they are scheduled to travel to Corning for a 3A-3 contest with the Bobcats. The following Tuesday, Jan. 13, they'll host the Manila Lions in another conference tilt.

Meanwhile, the Lady Mohawks are scheduled to return to action next Thursday, Jan. 8, as they will host Ridgefield Christian in a contest which was not on the original schedule. The junior and senior teams will be the only ones in action on the evening, with the first game set to tip at 6 p.m. The girls will then swing back into conference play on Monday, Jan. 12, as they visit Manila and take on the Lady Lions, and on Thursday, Jan. 15, they're slated to host the Lady Seminole of Osceola at PHS. The girls are also slated to take part in a tournament at Corning which will be going on Jan. 15 to 17. As of this week the bracket had not been released.
