A former local man was a big winner recently, taking first place with his partner in the Get5Bass Winter Series Tournament on Lake Dardenelle. Marvin Harris, formerly of Piggott and Pollard, along with his partner Bobby Curtis took top honors in the tourney as they competed against 16 other teams.

Event organizers note the day was a tough one for fishing, as only six of the teams brought in the limit of five bass. But, the team of Harris and Curtis had a productive day fishing with jigs, and their five fish totaled 19.34 pounds to take first place.

The second place team of Wayne Dixon and Jared Allen finished with 18.21 pounds, while the third place entry of Troy Den and Creighton Sawyer landed 17.88 pounds.

The next Get5Bass Winter Series Tournament on Lake Dardenelle is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17.
