Surveillance video from the State Line Liquor Store shows the suspect, Lonnie Blanton of Corning.

As of Thursday, Jan. 8, Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller reports a Corning man is still being sought by authorities after he allegedly robbed the State Line Liquor Store late Saturday evening.

According to Miller, his department was contacted by the Butler County Sheriff's Office at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, on the report of an armed robbery at the liquor store, which is located on U.S. Highway 67 at the Arkansas-Missouri state line.

Deputies from both counties responded to the location, and were informed the suspect had fled the scene headed south, back into Arkansas. A description of the suspect vehicle was then given to officers, although reports indicated it was not observed by deputies responding to the scene from Clay County. Later the vehicle was found, but had apparently been abandoned.

Miller noted the surveillance video from the store was reviewed, and the suspect was identified by one of the Clay County deputies.

As a result, officials are now searching for Lonnie Blanton, 52, of Corning. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 200 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. He may, or may not, have a beard.

Blanton is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone coming in contact with him is urged to contact law enforcement authorities.

At last report the investigation into the robbery, and the search for Blanton, continued.
