Piggott Firefighters Battle Smoky Blaze

Friday, January 16, 2015
The fire at mid-day on Friday at a trucking company shop on North Front Street left much of the city under a blanket of thick smoke.

For the second Friday in a row Piggott firefighters responded to a mid-day blaze, this week they were summoned to battle a fire at a trucking company shop on North Front Street. The firefighters were called out just before noon to Lazy D Trucking, 473 North Front, on the report of smoke pouring from the building. The blaze within the metal shop building also touched-off a grass fire along the ditch bank at the rear of the structure, along the west side of the railroad tracks.

Damage was restricted to within the building, although the fire caused a thick cloud of smoke to cover much of the northwest part of the city. No report on any possible cause at this time and more details may be found in the Jan. 21 print edition of the CCTD.
