Frances Tracey

Frances Louise McBride Tracey, age 97, daughter of Edward and Irene McBride, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Homestead Village Retirement Community in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. At her side were her son Dan Britton Jones and his wife, Marilyn, both of Lancaster.

Frances Louise was born and raised in Rector and was crowned Miss Rector 1932. She often traveled back to Rector with her husband, Joshua Irving Tracey of New Haven, Connecticut and their two sons, Dan Britton and Douglas Irving Tracey. Rector became a second home to the family as the boys grew up and spent many holidays and summers in Rector visiting their maternal grandmother and her sisters, Ella Hardin, Lena Carver, Flora Bradham, along with their uncle, Dan McBride and his daughter, Dana Speer, who presently lives in Rector.

Frances Louise graduated from Rector High School, attended Arkansas State, and then moved to Little Rock where she worked for an insurance firm. While there she met Elbert W. Jones, Jr. who joined the army and was killed in the invasion of Normandy. At First Methodist in Little Rock, Frances Louise would meet her second husband, Dr. Joshua I. Tracey who was working for the U.S. Geological Survey. They moved to Washington D.C., where their son Douglas, was born. They attended Mount Vernon Methodist Church, sang in the choir, raised their two sons and remained happily married for over fifty years. Dr. Tracey retired from the government and passed away in 2004.

Frances Louise leaves behind her two sons and their wives, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A Rector beauty, an angelic soprano, a devoted wife, mother, and a loving grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.

Interment will be at a later date in Woodland Heights Cemetery.
