Gerald David Smith, 85, of Marmaduke, passed from this life on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. He was born on May 9, 1929, in Greene County, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lea Onnie (Ramer) Smith.

He was a member of the Ramer's Chapel United Methodist Church and served many years as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and was on the cemetery committee. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean war, and in his spare time enjoyed gardening, and reading his Bible. He was retired from Darling Store Fixtures.

Gerald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma Inez (Stephens) Smith; one brother, Cleatis Smith and one infant sister.

He is survived by his daughters, Becky McDowell and Ricky of Marmaduke and Lisa Siebert and Marc of Lafe; one sister, Naomi Bradford of Arnold, Mo.; two grandsons, Shannon and Wendy McDowell and Shawn and Katy McDowell; two great grandchildren, Lucy McDowell and Jack McDowell; sister-in-laws, Catherine Gerdes of Jonesboro, Loretta and Buddy Smith of Paragould, Lorene Stephens of Lafe and Ruth Smith of Rector; one brother-in-law, Thelbert and Viola Stephens of Paragould along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 17, 2015 at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Feb.18, 2015 at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke with Bro. Mark Trout and Bro. George Haygood officiating. Interment will follow at Ramer's Chapel Cemetery outside of Marmaduke.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Ramer's Chapel Cemetery Fund.
