Hal William George
Hal William George, 83, of Greenway, Ark., passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 5, 1931, in Kennett, Mo., and was the son of the late Carmel and Ima (Haggard) George.
He was united in marriage to Ermagene Johnson on March 28, 1953, and to this union two daughters were born.
Hal was a Korean War Veteran, earning a Purple Heart, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenway, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eddie George and his granddaughter, Kimberly Wilburn.
He is survived by his wife, Ermagene George of Greenway, Ark.; two daughters, Patricia Preusser and her husband Robert Preusser, and Ava Jo Wilburn and her husband Jimmy Wilburn; three grandsons, Mike Wilburn, Heath Wilburn and Chuck Johnson; three granddaughters, Melanie Ponder, Autumn Preusser and April Gilbow; two great-grandsons, Hunter Wilburn and Kason Gilbow; four great-granddaughters, Kelsey Wagster, Sydney Johnson, Rylee Wilburn and Karlee Gilbow; and brother, H. E. George and wife Ramah of Cabot, Ark. along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with David Finley officiating. Burial is in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Ark. Pallbearers are Mike Wilburn, Heath Wilburn, Randy Wilburn, Layne Gilbow, Chuck Johnson and Chip Schlappi. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at noon on Friday, and continue until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
