The Mohawk starters await their introduction prior to Thursday evening's loss to Corning in the district at Manila.

The delayed first round of their respective district tournaments was unkind to both the Piggott Mohawks and Rector Cougars on Thursday. Playing in games delayed by the weather, both the RHS and PHS boys and girls fell in tournament play to end their seasons.

In the 3A-3 at Manila the Lady Mohawks fell to Osceola 46-30 in the first game of the bracket, then in the nightcap the Tribe dropped a 70-67 decision to the Corning Bobcats. In the other two contests it was Osceola's boys over Hoxie while the Lady Mustangs eliminated the host Lady Lions. The semi-finals are set for Saturday, with the championship games on Monday at Manila High School.

And in action at Lepanto, the Lady Cougars played the first game of the 2A-3 district tournament against EPC, and dropped a squeaker to the Lady Warriors 53-49. In the game to follow, the Cougars saw a 10 point halftime lead evaporate to the Riverside Rebels as they fell by three points, 47-44.

Other action saw Earle beat Cross County in the girl's bracket, and Marked Tree eliminated the Thunderbird's boy's team while Marmaduke cruised past CRA 60-32 in boy's action.

The second round was set for Friday; weather permitting, with the semi-finals on Saturday and championship games Monday at EPC.
