Dan Pritchett III

Dan Wesley Pritchett, III, passed away from this earth on January 17, 2015, to be with his Heavenly Father and free from this world of pain and suffering. He passed away at Baptist East, in Naples, Fla., with his mother, Melva, Aunt Rubye Betts and cousin April at his bed side.

Danny was born to Melva Threlkeld Pritchett and Dan Pritchett, II, on October 27, 1944, at Manila, Ark. At the time of his birth his dad was serving in World War II at Bastogne, Belgium, on his way to the "Battle of the Bulge."

Danny would not get to know him until he was two years old. They struck up a bond fast in true Texas fashion, as Dan, II, was from Spur, Tex. Danny had a lot of Pritchett DNA and loved the outdoors, and his horse, Sussie. As a youth he entered events in barrel racing, bull riding and roping with Sussie. He also enjoyed the Derby Car racing at St. Francis. His lifetime work was in the tile, flooring and carpet business. He enjoyed playing pool with his buddies on team "5:00 Somewhere" of the APA League.

He became a member of the American Legion Post at Qulin, Mo. He also served in the Arkansas National Guard with the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group and was honorably discharged as a Spec 4 in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reed and Ora Threlkeld of Piggott and Dan Sr. and Opal Pritchett of Spur, Tex. and his foster sister, Brenda Jo Sutherland-Pritchett.

He leaves his mother, Melva Pritchett of Piggott; a brother, J. E. Pritchett and wife Julie and family of Overland Park, Kan.; J. E.'s son, Brice and family of Ft. Worth, Tex.; his two sons, Darrin and Gary; a daughter, Roxanne and family, Leslie, Jamie and Christina and husband Nick along with a great-grandson, Dillon.

Danny got to know, and enjoy, his great-grandson which helped him focus on happy things and not his pain and illness.

H also leaves a host of cousins and aunts and uncles.

Danny will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
