Lady Greyhounds Win State Title

The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds beat the Lady Lions of England 68-56 in the 2A state basketball championship game in Hot Springs Saturday afternoon.

The 'Hounds fell behind 6-0 to begin the ballgame, and trailed 13-2 by midway through the second quarter. But, they continued to chip into the lead and cut it to 38-31 at intermission. They took the lead at 43-42 about two minutes into the second half and never looked back. The Lady 'Hounds stretched the advantage to 59-52 by the end of the third and never trailed by more than 9 points down the stretch.

In the other 2A final it was the England boys, coached by former Mohawk standout Tyler Scott, edging Junction City 64-62.

Congrats to the Lady 'Hounds and their fans on a great season.
