Body Discovered in Central Clay County
Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller has updated the media on the discovery of a man's body in a ditch south of McDougal Thursday afternoon.
Reports from the sheriff's department indicated deputies responded to a location along County Road 256, south of McDougal, after a body was found in the ditch by members of the public.
Once deputies arrived on the scene, and the body was located, the Arkansas State Police was summoned to assist with the investigation. The body was then removed from the scene and transported to Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in PIggott, and was later sent on to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
Friday afternoon Miller reported the matter has been turned over to the ASP, and the body was at the crime lab in Little Rock.
Monday morning he reported the body was that of Sean L. Hays, 53, of Corning. He further indicated information from the Arkansas Crime Lab indicated Hays died from natural causes. Miller further noted a toxicology screen was also conducted, although the results are not expected to be available for several months.
