Lady Cougars Stumble in League PLay

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Rector High School's softball team was defeated on the home field Tuesday, March 17, by Buffalo Island Central with a final score of 7-3.

"BIC is one of the best teams in the district, and scored five runs in the first inning," coach David Hendrix said. "The girls did well considering they're a young and inexperienced team."

Colby Lynch pitched all seven innings, giving up seven hits, striking out two and hitting two by pitch. "Colby pitched well, there were just some tough breaks," Hendrix said.

Offensively the Cougars had eight hits, led by Tori Hill who was 3 for 4, with two RBIs. Emma Hobbs was 2 for 3, with an RBI and Colby Lynch had a double.

The Lady Cougars are slated to compete March 30 at Cross County and March 31 at Crowley's Ridge Academy.
