Tickets are now on sale, for "A Piggott Mohawk Reunion," hosted by the PHS class of 1970. The event is open to all Piggott High School alumni, as well as the general public, and several activities are planned.

The first event of the day is being held beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, with an informal gathering at the "block house" facility adjacent to Parker Field. The open house will be hosted by Coach Michael Harrell and the 2015 Mohawk football team and coaches, and is open to all former players.

A "tailgate" style party will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Piggott Community Center hosted by the Class of 1970 and local sponsors. At 7 p.m. the program will begin with a pictorial history of Mohawk football, and some of the notables who played or coached at PHS. The review will include special recognition of the first Mohawk football team, followed by biographical highlights of some of the outstanding players and their careers.

Next will be a general discussion on the history of the Mohawk football teams and some of their most successful campaigns. Among the squads up for consideration is the 1962-64 Mohawk team, and the 1967-69 squad. Featured speakers and guests include former Razorback standout and Philadelphia Eagle, Gary Adams; former Razorback defensive great Tommy Dixon; Link Fuller, formerly of the Dallas Cowboy's staff and former Mohawk coach Joe Black, who was a member of the 1964 National Champion Arkansas Razorback team.

"A special recognition will also be held to remember assistant coaches, and teammates, who are no longer with us," noted local organizer Joe Cole. "Afterward, there will be a very special recognition for the head coach from that era, Zig Williams."

The reunion will also include a live auction of football memorabilia which will include collectibles from Dallas Cowboy hall of famers, courtesy of Fuller. A special Mohawk memorabilia room will also be open for viewing. "The evening will conclude with an "open mic" for all teammates to share the legacy that is Mohawk football," Cole added. "This will prove to be the greatest gathering of Mohawk alumni that this community has ever witnessed."

Tickets for the reunion are $15 each, and cover all food and drinks. All proceeds go to support scholarships for Piggott High School graduates.

Those wanting to purchase tickets, or obtain more information, may contact any member of the PHS class of 1970 or may call Cole at 901 246-7647.
