Local Damage Minimal From Storm Front

Friday, April 10, 2015

Clay County was spared from the brunt of the strong storm system which swept across the middle U.S. Thursday evening. The line of storms spawned several tornadoes, although locally the system brought only heavy rain, strong winds and hail.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department did respond to the report of an overturned FedEx truck on Highway 135, near Fox Farms south of the Corning Y. Luckily, the driver was not injured as high winds apparently blew the rig over, although the roadway was blocked for several hours.

Otherwise, the system which has been blamed for at least one death did not cause much in regional damage. Further details may be found in the April 15 print and online editions of the CCTD.
