Edward Cole, 88, of Piggott, Ark., passed away May 1, 2015, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
He was born on November 27, 1926, in Piggott, Ark., and was the son of the late Carlos and Lillie (Conyers) Cole.
Edward was a Private First Class in the United States Army during World War II, receiving a Victory Ribbon, two Overseas Service Bars and an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 22, 1946, at Fort Sam Houston, Tex.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ethridge, Leslie and Odell and his sister, Lucille Loveless.
Survivors include his son, Carl Cole of Hurst, Tex.; a daughter, Brenda Sheldon and husband Greg of Belleville, Ill.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Leoma Dean Ferrell of Piggott, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 4, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loran Johnson officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held beginning at noon on Monday and continued until service time.
