Ruby Muriel Foster
Ruby Muriel Foster, 84, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away May 2, 2015, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
She was born on December 22, 1930, in Piggott, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Ray and Loretta Turner.
Melvin Ethery Foster and Ruby Muriel Turner met on Saturday evening in Piggott Square and were united in marriage on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 1949, at Muriel's parents' home.
Ten years later, on Sunday morning, March 14, 1959, they were on their way to church when they changed directions and went to the hospital where Ricky Lynn was born. Two years later, again on a Sunday morning, Sept. 10, 1961, they made a trip to the hospital where Kenneth DeWayne was born.
Muriel worked at Brown Shoe Company in Piggott until they moved to Poplar Bluff in 1977 and then she worked at a shoe factory in Poplar Bluff until she retired. Muriel taught third through sixth grade Sunday School for many years.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Eula, May, Lester and Mary Ruth.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Melvin Foster; two sons, Rick and Kenny; two granddaughters, Ricole and Ashley; one step grandson, Brandon; and three great grandsons, Caydon, Leeim and Travis Christopher; two sisters, Pauline and Wilma and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kent Miller officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday, and continued until service time.
