The Piggott Mohawk track teams combined for a second place finish in the 3A-3 district meet, held Monday, April 27, at Pocahontas. The Tribe also qualified several members of both the boys and girls teams to take part in the upcoming 3A state track meet, being held this week at Prescott.

The Mohawk boys team notched several first place finishes in the district, including a one-two-three finish in the 100 meters by Nick McKinnie, Bradley Stephens and Logan Dixon. McKinnie (11.98) and Stephens (12.08) also qualified for the state meet with their performances.

The Mohawks also took first in the 4x400 relay with McKinnie, Stephens and Dixon joined by Justin Goding to set a time of 44.99. This also garnered them a trip to Prescott for the state meet.

The 4x800 relay team finished second with a time of 9:59.11 and qualified for the state as well, with Bret Fuller, Elijah Bellers, Cade Harrell and Goding all running a leg.

The boy's team also got several other strong performances, although they weren't good enough to notch a spot in the state meet. Dalton Morris took sixth in the 110 hurdles; Hardin and Caleb Welborn were fourth and fifth in the 1600 meters and finished fourth and seventh in the 800 meters.

Meanwhile, the senior Lady Mohawks will be represented by one distance runner and the 4x100 relay team at the state meet based on their performances at Pocahontas. Taking first in the district meet was the Emilee Seegraves in the 3200 meter run, while the 4x100 relay team of Jaessa Threatt, Ashlee Vaughn, Ebonie Arriola and Georgina Bautista took first as well.
