Lady Greyhounds Earn State Berth

Marmaduke stretched its winning streak to 18 straight with an 11-1 five inning thumping of host Tuckerman in Friday's first round of the 2A Regional Softball Tournament.

The win propels the Bulldogs into this week's 2A State Tournament beginning Thursday at Norphlet. Sammi Henry earned the win for the Lady Greyhounds, going the distance. Henry allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out five Lady Bulldogs.

Bailey Bridges had a pair of hits and drove in three runs. Jordan Mays had two hits and two RBI while Tabitha Hyten and April Kennedy both delivered two hits and one RBI each.

Marmaduke (19-1) saw their semifinal game with Salem rained out Saturday afternoon. Play was scheduled to resume Tuesday afternoon.
