PHS Graduation Friday

A capacity crowd is expected to fill the Piggott High School gym Friday, May 15, as 61 members of the Class of 2015 take part in commencement exercises. This year's graduation ceremony is set to begin at 7 p.m. as the PHS band will welcome the graduates as they perform Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance as the processional.

The first speaker of the evening will be the PHS valedictorian for 2015, Micah Lynn Hobbs. The daughter of Jody Thompson and Corey Hobbs, Micah will be attending Arkansas State University in the fall as she plans to pursue a Master's Degree in social work.

The valedictory speech will be followed by special music from the Piggott High School band.

Up next will be the salutatory address, offered by the 2015 salutatorian at PHS, Bailey Elizabeth Pollard. Bailey, the daughter of Jeff Pollard and Lora Pollard, will be attending college at UCA in the fall, as she looks forward to graduating with a degree in psychology.

Afterward, the scholarships and awards will be handed out by Amber Harrell, Piggott High School Counselor. And, making scholarship presentations for Piggott Community Sharing Hearts is Shawn Parker.

Special music from the PHS Choir, under the direction of Ellen Meadows, will follow. Afterward will be the highlight of the evening, as the class of 2015 is presented for graduation by Piggott Superintendent Charlie Powell.

The awarding of diplomas to the graduates will be handled by PHS Principal Barry DeHart, with assistance from school board president Neil Morgan and board secretary Hope Burns.

Vavak, Ethan Murray, Michelle Low, Eli Smith, Logan Jearl Foster, Ryan Crawford, Jesse McCracken, Jessie Mallard, Kayla Danielle Massey Hardin, Caleb Benbrook, Bradley Stephens, Dalton West, Joseph Lambert, Brandon Hoggard, Casey Hicks, Logan Massey, Abigail LeErin Holcomb, Jonathan Samuel Morgan, Tanner Smart, Austin Sanders, Jacob Wellman, Sadie Flynn Sawyers, Bailey Elizabeth Pollard, McKenzie Beth Hopkins, Micah Lynn Hobbs, Shelby Nicole Pruett-Chavez, Caroline Rodery, Quest Emerson, Kayla Brianna Bellers, Brady McPherson, Caleb Hasty, Alvia Cloninger, Alexa Nicole DeHart, Halee Arnold, Chelsey Moore, Ethan Clay Tanner, Scottie Deanna Corter, Erich Smith, Lee Owens, Lauryn Hailey Ward, Benjamin Nathaniel Jones, Caleb T. Toombs. Winston Eubanks, Garrett Cook, Hunter Massey, Tristan Lowrie, Jordan Blascoe, Joshua Cook, Morgan Berry, Christina Jean Dupree, Nick McKinnie, Jeb Pike and Kristopher Shipman.

Then, with a flip of the tassel the members of the class will complete their high school careers at PHS, and join together to sing the Alma Mater.

The PHS band will once again perform the recessional, as the classmates will leave the gym one final time to the strains of "Pomp and Circumstance."
