James V. "Jim" Metz
James V. "Jim" Metz, 91, of Pearl, Miss., formerly of Piggott, Ark., passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, in the Brandon, Miss.
He was born on October 4, 1923, in Piggott, Ark., and was the son of the late Thomas Emil and Lura (Trevillion) Metz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emil Metz; his mother, Lura Metz and son, Jim Metz.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Metz of Pearl, Miss.; a brother, Jack Metz and wife Brenda of Portageville, Mo.; three sons, Paul Zane Metz and wife Melanie of Dallas, Tex., James Timothy Metz and wife Joy of Utica, Miss. and Thomas Edwin "Tommy" Metz of Pearl, Miss.; one daughter, Jamie Lynn Metz and fiancée Fagun Adams of Lake, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Terry B. Rettger and husband Mike of Connecticut and Sondra Bearden of Connecticut; five grandsons; six step-grandsons; two step-granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and several step great-grandchildren.
Jim served in World War II and was a gunner on B-24's and worked on the B-25 airplanes. He had multiple jobs but the main job he loved was driving a truck. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local #891 of Jackson, Miss. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, fishing, and taking naps but above all he enjoyed being with his family.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, and continued until service time at the funeral home.
