D.B. Chastain, 86, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015, at his home.
He was born on May 27, 1928, in Alicia, Ark. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Blaylock Chastain George; father, James Chastain; sister, Velma Boyd; four brothers, Sam George, Jr., Frank Chastain, Maxie Chastain and Edward Chastain; daughter, Joyce Chastain Dement; granddaughter, Sarah Hayden and grandson, Marty Hurst.
D.B. served in the United States Army for 16 years and was a Sergeant and a Rifleman in Berlin, Germany. He was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Exie Chastain; children, Carolyn Allen and husband Bob of Hardy, Ark., Brenda Moore of Jonesboro, Ark., Dletta Doyle and husband Bill of Sedgwick, Ark., Cathy Ribbing and husband Mike of Piggott, Ark., Rick Hayden of New Orleans, La., John Hayden and wife Sandy of Campbell, Mo. and Judy Baros and husband Mike of Colorado; grandchildren, Gerald Hurst of Hartsburg, Mo., Denise Chadwick of Hardy, Ark., Shelley Hurst of Knobel, Ark., Michael Myatt of Jonesboro, Ark., Andrew Myatt of Bono, Ark., Randy Moore and Sammy Moore both of Texas, Lorrie Rose of Jonesboro, Ark., Marsha Jones of Hoxie, Ark., Jason Ribbing of Conway, Ark., Travis Hayden of Campbell, Mo., Dustin Hayden of Jonesboro, Ark., Michael Baros of Fredrick, Colorado, Jarrod Barros of Frederick, Colo., Thomas Hayden of St. Jo, Fla. and Heather Hayden of St. Jo, Fla.; 21 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott, Ark., with Robert Gunnels officiating. Burial is in Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia, Ark. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, and will continue until service time at the funeral home.
