Elleta Connie (Rhynes) Simpson, 83, of Rector, passed from this life Friday May 22, 2015, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was born on December 10, 1931, in Clay County, Ark., to the late Oscar and Carrie (Downing) Rhynes. Elleta was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Boydsville and in her spare time enjoyed quilting, gardening, working in her flower beds, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Teressa Diane Nelson; five brothers, Arthur Rhynes, Everett Rhynes, Roy Rhynes, Lionel Rhynes and Marvin Rhynes; and five sisters, Dovie Brewer, Velma Purdom, Aleen Mills, Orpha Brewer and Nell Good.
Elleta is survived by her loving husband, Cecil Simpson of Rector; one son, Danny Simpson and Terry of Boydsville; one daughter, Melissa Leigh Newell and Allen of Marmaduke; one son-in-law, Jim Nelson; one brother, Vernon Rhynes and Louise of Paragould; one sister, Eva Reiker and Al of Montana; six grandchildren, Krystal and Bryan Hooten of Paragould, Kris Nelson of Paragould, Bethany and Dustin Burns of Boydsville, Sarah Simpson of Boydsville, Emily Newell of Marmaduke and Erin Newell of Marmaduke; eight great-grandchildren, Max Hooten, Sam Hooten, Braxton Hooten, Kaelyn Burns, Jaxon Burns, Devin Burns, Aidan Burns, Mika and Aaron Sherfield along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday May 24, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday May 25, in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. George Bearden and Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery in Boydsville.
