PES Fundraiser Benefits Rice Depot
Recently students at Piggott Elementary School hosted a fundraiser for the Arkansas Rice Depot, which provides food to local pantries and the "Food For Kids" backpack program at many regional schools.
For one week each classroom collected change in an attempt to fill the bucket, with the winning students to be treated to an ice cream party in the outdoor classroom.
Over the course of the week a total of $1,582.14 was collected for the worthwhile cause, with Tammy Gordon's third grade class collecting the most as they brought in $483.23.
Last week the students received their prize, as they enjoyed the ice cream party in the outdoor classroom at the local campus.
"I would like to thank all the students for doing such an awesome job," noted parent center coordinator Mona Scott. "A big thank-you also goes out to all the volunteers, including Barbie Johnson, Denise Newbill, Annette Hill, Mr. Spikes and school secretary Mrs. Katina for helping count all that money."
The theme for this year's fundraiser was, "Fill the Bucket, Your Change Can Make a Difference!" Organizers also offered their thanks to all the parents and other supporters for their donations.
