Summer Feeding Program Returns

Monday, June 1, 2015

Once again this year both the Piggott and Rector school districts are participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Under the program meals will be provided to all children free of charge, regardless of school and meal eligibility requirements during the school year.

The meals are the same for all children, regardless of family income, race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. No registration is required for those attending.

The Piggott School District will be serving meals in the PHS cafeteria beginning Monday June 1 and ending Friday, July 31. They'll be serving breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. each Monday through Friday and will be serving lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on those days as well.

Those wanting additional information may call the district administration office at 598-2572

Lunch and breakfast will also be served at no charge in the Rector school cafeteria for those age 18 and under beginning on Wednesday, June 3 through Friday, July 31, although no meals will be served the week of June 30 to July 3.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. each Monday through Friday, with lunch served from 11 a.m. to noon those days as well.

Adult meals will also be available for purchase at Rector and cost $2 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch.

The meals will be offered throughout the summer if there is enough response to warrant, everyone is encouraged to utilize the program and encourage others to do so.
