Robert Lee "Bob" Palmer
Robert Lee "Bob" Palmer, 90, of Piggott, Ark., passed away on June 26, 2015. Bob was born on February 6, 1925, in the Holly Island Community of Clay County.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Charlie" and Sarah "Annie" Palmer; two brothers, Jacob and Aaron Palmer and one sister, Charlene French.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruth Lawanda "Wanda" Palmer; a son, Neil Palmer of Little Rock; a daughter, Judy (Palmer) Earnhart (Allen) of Piggott; and two grandchildren, Erin Palmer Welch (Michael) of Little Rock and Jared Palmer (Lori) of North Little Rock. Bob is also survived by one brother, Luke Palmer of Pollard, and a sister, Martha Dettling of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Bob was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard. He worked for the Brown Shoe Company in Piggott for more than 30 years and also owned and operated a small farm in Pollard where he enjoyed raising soybeans, wheat and rice. Bob loved to fish and enjoyed watching nature. Bob always had a smile on his face and was always willing to help someone in need.
Visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday June 28, with the funeral service immediately following at the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott with Pastor Loy Culver officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gaylon Burkman, Teddy Harmon, J. Finley, Zach Baker, Steve Baker and Mark Vavak. Honorary pallbearers were the congregation of New Hope Baptist Church along with longtime friends, Fred Scheffler and Bill Davis.
