The Rector All-Star Little League team of seven and eight-year-olds took first place in the District Four tournament held this past weekend at Rector. The talented youngsters advanced to Saturday's final, and took the title by beating Walnut Ridge 13-3. The District Four Little League tournament was held this past weekend at Rector, with teams in a variety of age classes competing.
Among those taking titles were the Piggott 12 and under squad, as they beat Corning in the final Monday night and the the Rector 7 and 8 year old machine pitching team. Meanwhile the Rector 9 and 10 year old team was runner-up in their division.
The Piggott Little League 11-12 year-olds captured the District 4 championship Monday night with an 11-1 victory over Corning in the finals of the double-elimination tournament held in Rector. Holden Tarno went the distance on the mound for Piggott to earn the championship win, as the Piggott team completed the bracket undefeated.
Piggott, and district runner-up Corning, will represent District 4 in the 11-12 Arkansas Little League state tournament which is being held at Independence Park in Piggott beginning Friday, July 17.
