Bragging rights will be on the line Friday, July 3, as former Mohawk football players will gather for an alumni contest. The game is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Parker Field, as the odd-number year graduates take on the even-number years grads in the fundraising contest.

Former players are still being sought for both squads, and registration will be going on prior to the contest. The fee for registering to play is $50, and all proceeds benefit the Mohawk Football Booster Club and the football program. Organizers note the deadline for registering is 5 p.m. Friday.

Several organized practices were held in preparation for the contest, although the turnout was light. Observers noted many of the players, especially those from previous decades, were likely preserving their energy for the contest.

Weather permitting a full night of action is planned, including a ball drop by helicopter, a performance by the Marching Mohawk band and more. Admission at the gate is $3 for adults and $2 for students or either a bar of soap or a towel. Organizers note in the event of severe weather Friday night they're currently planning to play the contest at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Parker Field.
