Arkansas Little League Champs Fall in Regionals

The Pine Bluff Western All-Star Little League team, which won the Arkansas state championship on Wednesday, July 30, in Piggott, advanced to the regional semi-finals in Waco, Tex. but fell Wednesday evening. The state champs, who earned the trip to Waco by winning the Arkansas 11 and 12 title at Independence Park, dropped an 11-9 decision to North Boulder.

The team advanced Tuesday afternoon, as Pine Bluff standout Markevian "Tink" Hence pitched a 1-0 shutout over East Bank Little League, from River Ridge, La., striking out 12 in the process.

Colorado will now take on the team from Pearland, Tex. in the regional final at 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Aug. 13, in a game to be aired on ESPN. The winner will advance to the Little League World Series, set for Aug. 20 to 30, in Williamsport, Penn.
