Oma McWherter, daughter of the late William Andrew and Effie Hendrixson Lomax, was born October 27, 1922, in Arbyrd, Mo., and departed this life August 15, 2015, at the age of 92 years. Oma married Renzo McWherter on Jan. 17, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1983.
Oma worked in sales and did clerical work. She was known for making the best pies, cakes and candy around.
She is survived by two daughters, Anita Allman and husband Jerry of Piggott, Ark. and Karen "Susie" Fraser and husband Bill of Conway, Ark.; one brother, Jim Lomax of Fort Worth, Tex.; two sisters, Orene Perez of Leachville, Ark. and Betty Smith of Davison, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Angela Duffel, Lisa Winberry, Melissa Allen, Jay Fraser, Mandi Harris, Scott Allman and Bryan Allman; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren along with other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, W.A., Jr. and Charles Lomax and five sisters, Myrtle Burke, Millie Dunehew, Sydney Wilson, Thelma and Nellie Lomax.
The family offered a special thank-you to the nurses and all the staff at Campbell General Baptist Nursing Home.
Visitation is being held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the McDaniel Funeral Service in Senath. Services will be held at 3 p.m. in the McDaniel Chapel in Senath, with Dale Rickman and Doug Clinton officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Pallbearers are Jeremy Winberry, Timothy Winberry, Bryan Allman, Scott Allman, Jay Fraser and Kyle Allman. Honorary pallbearer is Logan Allman.
