The Piggott Lady Mohawk volleyball team is set to begin the 2015 campaign this Thursday, Aug. 20, with a jamboree at Harrisburg. The Tribe, coming off yet another deep run into the 3A state volleyball tournament last fall, will begin their regular season on Monday, Aug. 24, with a non-conference home set against Pocahontas.

For Coach Nikki Speer and the Mohawks, there is added incentive to qualify for this year's state tournament, as PHS will be hosting the 3A tourney coming up in October. But, for the Tribe the state tournament has become a regular fixture on their fall schedule, as they've qualified each year since Speer took over the program.

Thursday evening the Mohawks will compete against several familiar non-conference foes, as the schedule at Harrisburg also includes two perennial powerhouses--Westside and Jonesboro High School. The first set is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Following Monday afternoon's set with the Lady Redskins of Pocahontas, the Tribe will swing into conference play on Tuesday with a home match with Walnut Ridge. On Thursday, Aug. 27, the Lady Falcons of Crowley's Ridge Academy will visit the PHS gym for 3A-Northeast action, and on Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Mohawks will play host to Cedar Ridge.

Following the Labor Day holiday, the Lady Mohawks will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 10, with a conference road set at Hoxie. And, on Saturday, Sept. 12, they'll travel to Harrison and compete in "Slam Fest," allowing them to play against a number of the teams they'll see in this year's state tourney.

The complete season preview may be found in next week's edition of the CCTD.
