County Residents Critically Injured in Crash
A two-car accident at the Corning Y left two women in critical condition Thursday, Aug. 20.
According to eyewitness reports, a white car driven by Mary Goodman of Corning approached the junction of Highway 62 and Highway 135 traveling northbound.
The car stopped at the stop sign and then pulled out in front of a red truck driven by Michael Hayes of Corning traveling eastbound on Highway 62, Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller said.
Hayes' wife Sharon was a passenger in the truck. Both women were airlifted to the Med in Memphis, and Hayes was transported by ambulance to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, where he was treated and later released. Both women have had surgeries and were in critical condition as of Monday.
