Thursday, September 10, 2015

Organizers of the Clay County Fair pageants have announced a big change in this year's schedule, as the pageants will now be held the Saturday before the fair opens. Under the new schedule the fair pageants will all be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the fair set to run Wednesday, Sept. 16 to Saturday, Sept. 19. This change will also allow the commercial building, which houses the pageants, to be used during the run of the fair for vendor space.

The pageant schedule for Saturday, Sept. 12, is as follows--with registration set to beginning 30 minutes prior to each pageant.

At 10 a.m. the Baby Miss and Baby Mister Clay County Pageant will be held for boys and girls ages birth through 11 months. At 10:30 a.m. boys and girls ages 12 through 24 months will compete in the Toddler Mister and Toddler Miss Clay County Pageant. It will be followed at 3 p.m. by the Junior Miss Clay County pageant, as young ladies ages 13 to 16 will compete. The entry fee for both pageants is $25 per contestant, and the proper attire is formal wear only.

The Miss Clay County pageant, for ladies age 17 to 21, will be held at 5 p.m. And, the day will conclude with the Mrs. Clay County pageant at 6:30 p.m., which is opened to any married or divorced woman who either lives or works in Clay County. The other pageants are all open to anyone, regardless of where they live.

The entry fee for both the Miss Clay County and Mrs. Clay County pageants is $25 for each contestant, and both pageants will feature formal wear as the appropriate attire. There will be a practice for the Mrs. Clay County pageant, and it is recommended, but not necessary for contestants to attend.

There is an entry fee of $1 at the door for all spectators, for all of the pageants, with contestants and children age two and under admitted freee. All proceeds from the gate admission will go toward the scholarship for this year's Miss Clay County.
