Betty Jo Gunter
Betty Jo Gunter, 74, of London, Ark., passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at home with her family by her side. She was the daughter of J. L. and Pauline Eason, and was born December 28, 1940, in Dewitt, Ark. She married Robert E. Gunter on May 31, 1958, in Stuttgart. Betty Jo graduated from Arkansas State University, setting a school record for the highest graduate point average which, still stands to this day. She received her Master's degree for nursing at UALR, and was a Registered Nurse for many years. Betty Jo had many great accomplishments in her life. She enjoyed playing the piano, games, flower gardening, cooking, and traveling but, above all spending time with her family. Betty Jo was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville. She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Jessie Lawrence and Eloise Sarah Eason and her mother and step-father, Pauline and George Lloyd.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert E. Gunter of London; two sons, Robert "Bruce" Gunter and wife Sharon of Russellville and Ernest "Dean" Gunter and wife Angie of Chandlerville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Robert Brice Gunter and wife Danielle of Russellville, William Craig Gunter of Russellville, Kalin Jo Gunter of Chandlerville, Ill. and Kristen Marie Gunter of Chandlerville, Ill.; five siblings, Roger Eason and wife Sherrie of Forrest City, Jerry Dawes and wife Shelby of Crockett's Bluff, Ronnie Dawes and wife Linda of Cave City, Judy Craig and husband Jimmy of Bridge City, Tex. and Elizabeth Owens and husband Maurice of White Hall along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, at Victory Baptist Church in Russellville with Brother Doug Hambrick and Craig Gunter officiating. Burial will be at East Point Cemetery in Russellville, Ark. by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
